From seanho@cs.unc.edu Sun Jul 21 22:19:11 2002 Date: Sun, 21 Jul 2002 22:02:44 -0400 (EDT) From: Sean Ho Subject: more q's from SS Ok, latest installment of questions. I felt a little bad that we didn't get to *any* of the new questions asked today. I think we did well, given the time constraints, though. I did appreciate the devo/message by Dan; you even made a nice clean conclusion, resisting the temptation to ramble! :) keep it up! As I shared with Tom today, I think 1st session is becoming sorta like the youth's own worship-service-and-SS combined, and 2nd session and dinner is fellowship time. I guess that this is okay; when I think back to my own youth fellowship, there were three main weekly components: 1) student-led fellowship/Bible study (on Sat morning in our case), 2) Sunday service with the adults (English service, or combined service in the days before we had an English service), and 3) Sunday school, taught by our counselors. And in our case here, I guess that we sorta have #2+3 in first session and #1 in second session. I dunno, this is just my own experience; what do y'all think? OK, here're the questions: * They say that people have a soul and a spirit, what is the difference? [ sorry, I may have prompted this in my response to "do pets go to heaven"; my ref is Heb 4:12 among others, but a fuller answer is kinda complicated -- sean ] * If I tried to kill someone but that person killed me before I could kill them, would I go to hell because I tried to kill them or would I go to heaven because I didn't kill them? * Why did God create Drugs? * What happened with ghosts? cuz they're kind of like spirits left behind? * What is the purpose of meaning? [ perhaps we could divert it to "what is the meaning of life?" -- sean ] * How could reincarnation make sense? (2->6x10^9)?!?! [ almost assuredly from Roger -- sean ] > > === Covered already: > > > > x* How did the bunny get into Easter? > > x* Does believing in Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy, etc (magic) go against > > the Bible? > > > > x* Did God create other religions?
